More on Redhat Linux
Redhat has split Red Hat Linux in the Fedora Project and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Fedora is free and downloadable, while Enterprise starts at a yearly $179. Red Hat Linux V9 is the last version.

redhat.com | Which Linux is Right For You? Looks like Mandrake (as long as they aren't doing the same thing.)
Fixed the Apple:
Mac OSX uses a symbolic link from /etc -> /private/etc. The link broke, so I
moved /etc to /etc.deleted and restablished the link. Examining the /etc.deleted
directory revealed that setting up an Apple talk network broke the link.
Thank goodness it wasn't a disk crash. BTW my Mac OSX is 10.2.8 (the good one).

Freed from the clutch of the crutches. With my new Aircast I can hobble along, but no driving yet. Oh well, one leg at a time.

Monday, November 03, 2003

Usually I long for the recliner, but now I'm stuck in it with my sprained ankle. And to top off the trilogy of mishaps; my powerbook's /etc directory went missing. Probably a drive crash, but I can't address the problem from the recliner. It will have to wait.

Injury of the day: This is ironic or just plain sad; yesterday leaving the dentist office I sprained my ankle (the right one). The gout is in the left foot (getting better). So Saturday I enjoyed waiting in the LGH Emergency Room (no wheel chairs) for diagnosis. Oh well, have to learn how to use crutches again. Some kind of fun! The PITA kind.

What is gout?
Gout is a form of arthritis that causes sudden, severe attacks of pain, tenderness, redness, warmth and swelling (inflammation) in some joints. It usually affects one joint at a time.
